What we did

Basingstoke West is SNG and Hill Partnerships’ flagship regeneration scheme, comprising a comprehensive review of many thousand post-war suburban homes and a step-change in quality of life for SNG’s residents. The choice of masterplan architect was pivotal for the SNG/Hill Partnership, and we supported them to design the right process for selection as well as through implementation and final choice. We are also now supporting on reviewing place-making and design quality. We undertook the following work:

  • Shaping the overall project brief

  • Writing the masterplanner scope of service

  • Understanding SNG/Hill priorities for the masterplanner skills and behaviours

  • Creating a masterplanner longlist and agreeing a shorter competition shortlist between the two Partnership parties

  • Designing the competition process including SQ and ITT questions, evaluation method

  • Participating in submission review including interviews

  • Acting as critical friend for design-related matters as the project progresses
