Peabody’s 150th anniversary was the cause of many celebrations and a time to reflect on George Peabody’s ‘gift that keeps on giving’: the £500,000 bequest which continues, through asset-backed loans, to fund 1000 new homes in London every year. An OJEU compliant competition was held to design ‘150 homes for 150 years’, won by PCKO in competition with many other notable architects. A student competition was also run in parallel, won by James Perry and Claire Harper who now run their own practice as well as teaching in Newcastle.
